Description
This is an easy-to-use utility which synchronizes two directories
and (if you wish to) all their subdirectories. After using it both (or
just one) of the selected directories contain the latest (according to
the files' date) version of the files. In addition, if a file didn't exists
in one of the two directories, it will be copied, so it exists in both.
Usage
-
Chose the two directories you want to synchronize. Type their names into
the two fields labeled 'Directory', or select them by clicking on
the button on the righthand side in these fields.
-
If you wish not to copy any files into one of these two directories, then
clear one of the two checkboxes labeled 'copy files to this loaction'.
This enables you to keep one directory untouched.
-
If you just wish to update the files in one directory (only existing files
are overwritten, no files will be newly created) you may check one of the
two checkboxes labeled 'copy existing files only'.
-
Now you may enter a mask that differs from '*.*', if just want to
copy specific files. For example to synchronize only your Word-Files you
should type '*.doc'.
-
If you don't want the subdirectories to be synchronized you'll have to
clear the checkbox 'include subdirectories'.
-
You may cause the programm to ask you whether it should overwrite or copy
a file by checking the checkbox labeled 'ask when overwriting/copying
a file'.
-
Now there's only one thing left: Click on 'Synchronize' and wait
for the utility to finish processing your instructions.
JKSynchronize always keeps you on the running about what's happening:
-
it puts out some kind of status messages in the status field and
-
it suplies you with a progress bar (left bottom) which informs you about
the progress when copiing a bigger file.
